In the Loop

From the President

Hi folks

Build-your-own-burger nights are on each Friday night. We generally take orders at 7.00 pm. Everyone
welcome. There has been a continual stream of new members joining up of late, a big welcome to them all.

Club aircraft usage continues to climb so get in early with your bookings.

Stay safe and enjoy your flying.

Pilot Knowledge Series

Articles on aspects of hands-on flying are now being published on our website in the Members Area/Safety Articles/All Articles listing. Originally published in the Brisbane Valley Flyer, we have the first five up:

The Sneaky Stall - Part 1
Wheelbarrowing is not Cool
Visual Illusions in Flight
The Stalling Syndrome
Yaw is no Yawning Matter

The author of this ongoing series, ex-pat kiwi ag-pilot, instructor and several times CFI Bob Knight presents these topical articles in discussion style. They are highly recommended and offer learning stimulus and advice for all pilots, whether student or seasoned pro, GA or homebuilt.

Future articles include 'Aircraft accelerate in a turn - or do they?' and 'Is the drag curve always a straight line?' - keep an eye out for them.

Test your Aviation Law knowledge

The answer to last weeks question,
When must a pilot submit a VFR flight plan? is ..

- When the pilot in command plans to proceed more than 50nm from shore; or
- the p-i-c requires an alerting service

This weeks Law question is:

What equipment must the aircraft be fitted with when operating more than thirty minutes flying time from the nearest shore?
